Choose the most appropriate timber!
By choosing among oak, ash or elm flooring, there are two main criteria to be taken into account –the hardness and the visual features of the final product.

Hardness
The durability of the flooring, as well as the appearance after years of usage depend on the hardness of the wood.
The hardness of the wood may be determined according to the Janka hardness scale. The chart below provides a comparison of the approximate rates of hardness of several species:

ASH
1250
OAK
1400
ELM
1200

Texture and colour
By selecting timber, which according to your expectations would best fit the internal design of the concerned premises, it is important to remember that it is possible to make the wood look darker or brighter, even applying several shadings or preserving the natural texture by means of various finishing materials as varnishes, oils or stains.

Width of the Boards!
By choosing the width of the boards, one should take into consideration:

-the area to be covered
It is advised to choose boards which are proportional to the size of the room, namely - the larger the room, the wider the boards, however, in exceptional cases also narrow boards will look great in a large room. Choose narrow boards for small rooms.
It is getting more and more popular to combine boards of various width, thereby giving the flooring a peculiar ancient look, because former each board was processed manually and it was quite impossible to obtain boards of the same size.

-climate in the room
The more inconsistent the moisture of the air in the room is, the narrower boards one should choose in order to prevent emergence of gaps. However, in case you have nothing against gaps between the boards or in case you even prefer leaving gaps between the boards purposefully, we advice you to choose wide boards, or if you desire to achieve quite the opposite effect – choose possibly narrow boards.

Type of the wood!
Hardwood is expensive and there is not much of it, therefore by choosing high class materials for your flooring you should consider the price, however, not always expensive stands for the best. Select and Country flooring will make the floor look very individual and special, and it has this natural appearance which could never be mixed with the widespread veneer or laminate coverings, and the maintenance of the floors made from different class materials does not differ at all.

PRIME – Fashionable flooring for a prestige and exquisite design.
Wooden flooring with restricted shading and texture variations. Only small spike knots permissible.
No sapwood on the upper part of the board; with natural variations of the shading and the texture of the heartwood.
Radially and tangentially sawn.
Irrelevant, small processing irregularities as non-polished lower part of the board and not completely filled groove, if it does not leave an impact on the durability and appearance of the flooring after instalment are permissible.
Only small spike-knots of 5mm in the diameter are permissible.

SELECT- selected flooring
For those who appreciate abundant texture.
Boards with moderate colour variations and knots.
Radially and tangentially sawn.
Irrelevant, small processing irregularities as torn fibre on the surface of the board, non-polished lower part of the board, not completely filled groove, if it does not leave an impact on the durability and appearance of the flooring after instalment, are permissible.
Also allowed knots in the diameter of max. 25 mm, small areas of ingrown bark and insignificant cracks, which can be covered with filling materials as well as small amounts of bark on the lower side of the board.

COUNTRY – natural flooring
For those who enjoy naturalness and profoundness.
Boards with the entire range of the natural timber shading variations and knots which do not influence the durability of the flooring.
Borads with the natural heartwood and sapwood colouring and texture variations.
Radially and tangentially sawn.
Irrelevant, small processing irregularities as torn fibre on the surface of the board, non-polished lower part of the board, not completely filled groove, if it does not leave an impact on the durability and appearance of the flooring after instalment, are permissible.
Permissible also sound knots of the diameter above 25 mm, loose knots in the diameter max. 13 mm, ingrown bark, splits which do not influence the structural durability of the flooring.
